The
Enneagram (pronounced "ANY-A-GRAM") is a tool for self-knowledge. It is
a model that delineates nine fundamental personality types in people that
describe our behaviors, attitudes and basic desires.

The
goal of life's psychological and spiritual journey is to rediscover our
essential nature and to strive for wholeness. The Enneagram is a tool
that helps us on this journey of exploration and self-discovery.
Each
personality type is a lens through which we see and experience life and
the world. No one type is better or of more value than another. The Enneagram
teaches us that we all have aspects of the nine personality types within
us. It is believed that we are each born with a particular personality
type as our primary type, which we keep throughout our lifetime. Over
the course of our lives, however, we can grow to incorporate the positive
traits of the other types, thus becoming a more whole and balanced person.
In the process, the Enneagram also teaches us compassion as we grow to
understand and accept why people are different and become more accepting
and understanding of differences between ourselves and others.
The
Nine Personality Types of the Enneagram
1. Reformers:
Principled, purposeful, self-controlled
2. Mentors: Caring, generous, people-pleasing
3. Achievers: Adaptable, self-developing, efficient
4. Individualist: Intuitive, expressive, designers
5. Investigators: Perceptive, innovative, detached
6. Loyalists: Committed, responsible, anxious
7. Enthusiasts: Spontaneous, versatile, talkative
8. Challengers: Self-confident, decisive, willful
9. Peacemakers: Calm, reassuring, agreeable

What
personality type am I?
There are several personality type indicator tests available to help determine
what type you may be. One validated personality indicator test is available
at The Enneagram Institute founded by two noted authors on the Enneagram,
Don Riso and Russ Hudson. The type indicator test can be taken and scored
on line for a fee at the www.enneagraminstitute.com
web site or a test booklet can be ordered by contacting me below.
How
does the Enneagram differ from other personality type models?
Much study and development has been done to make this a very powerful
and dynamic model. The Enneagram is unique because in addition to differentiating
the nine different types of personalities, it goes much deeper in exploring
nine levels of development (ranging from health to unhealthy) within each
type. Through this process, a person is able to achieve a level of self-understanding
and awareness that can be profound and transforming.
